The Senior Operations Engineer (Windows) Weekend Team Lead is a technical expert working as part of a Hosting Compute team that will also lead the Operations Centre resources over the weekend.
The team provides world class support to an enterprise level client base, responsible for incident resolution, processing of change requests, and contributions to problem management for Microsoft platform cases. The candidate will have a proven track record of Windows system administration and VMware ESX ideally with professional qualifications such as MCSE, MCSA, VCP.
The role will be working on a shift pattern which may include weekdays and\or weekends. The hours worked are a standard 37.5 hour week Saturday to Wednesday and can be flexible between the hours of 07:00 and 19:00. The role also provides out of hours On-call support for UK sovereign support escalations.
Be the last point of escalation of Windows system related issues and also acting as first point of management escalation at weekends
Ability to take the lead in dealing with high priority case or escalation. Provide constant update until it gets resolved (end to end)
Mentoring other junior team member / newly join as required
Ensuring the customer and ticket is up to date at all times on incident progress.
Maintain, troubleshoot and co-ordinate replacement of faulty hardware.
Involved in the execution of Client Change Requests in a timely manner as planned by Customer Account Manager, Engineering and Command Centre Manager.
Escalation of critical issues/outages to Hosting Manager and CAM as per procedures.
Provide detailed feedback to other groups on all incident resolutions, ensuring full details are entered into ticket case notes.
Daily review and action of open cases; updating Hosting Manager on current cases and their status as appropriate.
To provide comprehensive handovers to peers at the end of shift.
Attend Daily Operations and Change Review Meetings as required.
Logging cases to 3 rd party vendors requesting assistance on unresolved issues.
Additional responsibilities at the weekend also include but not limited to:
Organising workloads for Hosting Compute teams
Acting as a management escalation point
Approving Change Requests on behalf of Client Change Management
Qualifications and Experience
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Widows Server (2008, 2012, 2016)
Working knowledge of Internet Information Server (IIS) and other web server applications
Excellent understanding of Microsoft Clusters and failovers, Storage Devices and hardware, Active Directory and Microsoft Management Console
Working knowledge on database application such as MSSQL which include MSSQL Cluster (SQL2005, SQL2008, SQL2012)
Hands on experience in VMware ESX environment (VSphere 5.x, 6.x)
Pro-active team player
Positive and adaptable attitude – able to perform all Operations Center job function as required
At least having 8 years or more of experience in the same area
Having good networking concept which include static route, Firewall, VPN, load balancers
Knowledge on HP C7000 chassis and HP blade frames
At least having 10 years or more of working experience
Masters or Equivalent
Bachelors or Equivalent
