Job Summary

The Optimisation Project Coordinator I will be responsible for the management & coordination of tasks associated with internally driven projects, supporting business drivers such as savings targets, improvement initiatives and/or oversight & governance of BAU activities .

The Optimisation Project Coordinator I is expected to have a good understanding of project management concepts to successfully manage projects on time, budget and quality specification through existing operational processes. Responsible for stakeholder communications, reporting and best practices adherence.

The role is based on an 8 hour working day, 5 days a week.

Job Description

  • Takes ownership of the success of projects, coordinating activities across a range of technical and non-technical teams in order to achieve on-time delivery of expected business outcomes.

  • Hold internal kick-off meeting to review solution, all dependencies, actions and timelines.

  • Builds effective relationships with others (internally and externally) so that he/she is enabled to deliver strong results; builds a broad base of support among key decision makers and influencers;

  • Incorporates team feedback into decision making yet does not require consensus; speaks with intention, fosters open communication, listens to others, and is able to effectively communicate verbally and through written communication to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Act as central point of contact for all internal stakeholders.

  • Produce outline project plan and critical milestones.

  • Agree priorities and acceptance criteria.

  • Update and provide weekly RAID (Risk, Actions and Issues Depository)

  • Manage all risks and issues during the project and mitigate risk accordingly. Make tough decisions despite ambiguity and make the best use of resources to deliver results, considering the financial impact of actions.

  • Update and issue weekly WIP reports to internal stakeholders.

  • Hold weekly update call and meetings with all internal stakeholders.

  • Proactive engagement with External Customers to gain buy-in, collaboration and scheduling of activities.

  • Ensuring that where 3rd party contractors are required to deliver a project they are managed so to deliver against project milestones.

  • Effectively manage change control within the defined project when scope deviates.

  • Manage project closure activities, lessons learnt, milestone sign off and customer acceptances.


  • Experience of working within in Telecoms, IT Infrastructure or similar technical environment in a Delivery Management or Project Management capacity.

  • Experience of coordinating multiple technical areas to achieve project deliverables.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with an ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation, are essential.

  • Experience of managing competing priorities effectively.

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; MS Project would be an advantage but not essential

  • A recognised Project Management certification e.g. Prince 2/PMI is desirable but not essential.

  • Fluent in English (verbal & written) essential.
