The Role

Responsible for evaluating and planning optimal network capacity utilization and design requirements. Ensures efficient and timely deployment or removal of fiber, meets customer demand through analyzing current network designs, port/route consumption trends, new technologies and future opportunities for augmentation. Assimilates various internal and external customer requirements, creates new network capacity solutions, assembles the required fiber augment costs and budgets and participates in the overall network augment approval and trigger process. Undertakes specific network simplification and network enablement projects. Acts as a team lead and/or leads cross functional projects. Responsible for training within the team, represents the department in activities requiring planning, participation and support and assists through delegation. Works under minimal supervision. Performs a wide spectrum of moderately difficult assignments requiring analysis, innovation, and judgement. Assumes all routine tasks for major or multiple projects and is periodically called upon to make unreviewed decisions. Has a strong internal and external network. May act as a team lead, mentor others, and handle order escalations.

The Main Responsibilities

  • Applies detailed understanding of current network configuration and technology to ensure capacity and efficiency of the planned designs.

  • May participate in definition of new network configurations, technologies, and best planning practices.

  • May provide direction for the development of tools to monitor, manage, and report on the network. Documents detailed technical methodology for installation of network fiber of moderate complexity, including written directions, graphical fiber layouts, and fiber topology.

  • Defines requirements, develops, implements and uses reporting procedures and methodologies to analyze network utilization and predict growth trends. Troubleshoots reporting errors and identifies data specific problems within large sets of data. Manually facilitates correction of reporting errors caused by data problems. 6. Prepares status/progress reports and updates management on projects.

  • Participates in development of reports. May present new reports and summaries of network data to Management, Product Teams, and Network Planning. Train users in how to use these new tools and how they will benefit them.

  • May act as lead and provide technical supervision to team. May lead cross-functional teams on large projects.

  • Provide Fiber assignments, identify fiber constraint, estimate and initiate building Adds

What We Look For in a Candidate

  • Bachelor's Degree or 5+ years of relevant job experience. Relevant job experience is described as:

  • Job experience with similar essential duties

  • Experience working in a corporate environment.

  • Ability to work well with team members and the ability to take direction/requests from multiple sources.

  • Proficient with windows-based applications.

  • Ability to thrive and accept changing priorities and deadlines

  • Ability to proactively manage issues and drive resolution without receiving direction from peers/management.

  • Need to have knowledge of the processes and systems that are used on a daily basis within the team.

  • Knowledge/Experience with in-house systems is a plus (TNE, OpenCI, Remedy, Granite and other CNI Environments, etc).

  • Familiarity and pre-existing relationships with NOC, Field and Change Management organization
