The Network Expansion Planner shall work cross functionally to review feasibility studies, network plans, and business cases for telecommunications network expansions and new market developments. The purpose of these expansions is to increase network coverage and addressable market, to enable profitable revenue growth and to support strategic initiatives for the company. The primary focus of this position will be to manage regional opportunities from concept through deployment and provide guidance for priority and monitor resource constraints.
• Identify network expansion/new market development opportunities in particular regions of the US. Interface with and understand opportunities and requirements of
internal and external Customers.
• Prioritize Project Feasibility Analysis - Evaluating multiple project concepts and opportunities and managing multiple projects in various states of completion.
Conduct build vs. buy analysis for metro network opportunities, ability to investigate competitive data and build staffing and construction scheduling models.
• Cooperate and work with other planning disciplines in preparing and prioritizing project plans to address opportunity requirements in the most cost effective and
commercially successful manner. Plans to include: network architecture and topology solutions, deployment costs and schedules, risk identification and analysis,
ROW/Franchise requirements, short and long-term revenue addressability, projections, network limitations and required augments, etc.
• Cooperate and work with Regional Finance Managers in business case preparation and process for proposed expansions or new market development.
Cooperate and work with local Sales and Building Access Team in understanding demand and building access hurdles and mitigation plans.
• Guide regional strategic planning and implementation with support from cross-functional internal organizations.
Knowledge, Skills or Abilities
Strong knowledge/understanding of the telecommunication landscape and competition. Knowledge and understanding of telecommunications metro network architecture/design/development. Ability to work in cross-functional development organization with financial analysts, engineers, project managers, field operations personnel and others. Strong project management skills. Experience in strategic customer relationship management. Understanding financial modeling processes, pro-forma CF, NPV, IRR metrics and financial statements. Strong computer skills with emphasis using Microsoft Word, Excel, and SQL as well as a variety of mapping programs. Familiarity with construction practices and methods in the project locations. Familiarity with local jurisdictional decision makers a plus.
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Bachelors or Equivalent in Engineering General or Business
