The Network Security Engineer supporting DDoS is responsible for finding solutions for new product features, constraints and platform challenges. This person serves as the subject matter expert for the mitigation platforms and the engineering authority over new product features and capabilities. A successful engineer will possess experience and understanding of: internet routing , volumetric DDOS scrubbing systems, layer 7 proxy mitigation, and unix shell scripting. Engineers are expected to identify and design solutions for issues involving: new features, interoperability, vulnerabilities, service limits, and system constraints facing the platform and product. In addition, engineers are responsible to envision, evaluate new capabilities and predict future needs, then engage stakeholders, vendors and peers to define and pursue these needs. The successful engineer is a strong communicator and relationship builder, using their soft skills to: influence stakeholders, achieve group consensus, and obtain resource commitment. The engineer is a de-facto leader in the organization and committed to directly mentoring of junior engineers and technicians, as well as, consistently demonstrating behaviors aligned with our core values.
Perform engineering support for the DDOS products by developing solutions to: improve service, scalability and deliver new features
Support SOC & DDOS stakeholders with training and engineering guidance
Supports Network System Maintenance - plan, write MOPs, test, schedule and execute DDOS platform maintenance
Directly engages in advanced troubleshooting and delivery with stakeholders, including end customers
Manages DDOS vendors to drive bug, vulnerability, interoperability issues while defining and advocating for future needs.
Identifies configuration, procedures and practices required to accomplish platform surveillance, service delivery
Receive and respond to engineering referrals from our business stakeholders
Strong understanding and practical experience with DDOS, IP, BGP, ECMP, & GRE
Experience evaluating and editing router interface configurations and routing policy (Nokia and Junipers).
Ability to learn and develop new techniques for scrubbing customer internet traffic
Performs data analysis to formulate explanations and descriptions of traffic related events & attacks .
Ability and commitment to communicate effectively, consistently chooses communication methods to ensure critical information reaches and persuades intended audience
Uses strong interpersonal skills to build partnerships with stakeholders and peers
Possesses leadership qualities and persuades stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes
