Job Summary

The primary objective of this sales management position is to lead a team of new Custom Managed Network Services, Advanced Managed Network Services and SD WAN revenue for an assigned U.S. geographic region comprised of overlay services sellers to medium, large and complex clients, including state and local government and the education sector. Desired result is having this team exceed their new monthly recurring growth and incremental revenue targets. Key function is sales management and leadership to ensure your overlay sales team prospects, qualifyies, and closes Managed Network Services and SD WAN services customers for CenturyLink.

Job Description

  • Experience in managing sales teams and selling managed LAN/WAN networking services, Software Defined Network services, Application and/or outsourced solutions.

  • Partner with the CenturyLink Business units, sales management and customers through a strategic and consultative sales approach to understand their business needs, issues, strategies and priorities to deliver a value-added services solution.

  • Ensure your sales team develops and maintains relationships at the ‘C’ level in the pursuit of Managed Network Services and SD WAN sales inside of large commercial and government clients.

  • Accountable for your sales team meeting and/or exceeding assigned sales objectives and monthly revenue quotas and building new sales funnel revenue within a designated region.

  • Must have superior technology and solution knowledge of Managed Network Services and SD WAN services.

  • Will ensure your sales team builds and maintains accurate and up to date strategic account plans associated with regional Managed Network Services and SD WAN services sales opportunities.

  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to present in executive briefing as well as small and large group settings.

  • Must be able to have all sales activities relative to qualified sales opportunities, potential sales closure opportunities and committed 30-, 60- and 90-day sales opportunities are accurate in the sales CRM system (currently salesforce.com). In addition, to manage sales funnel to analyze and manage pipeline activity and monitor sales activity against assigned quotas.

  • Confirm your sales team obtains relevant product, industry, sales and technical certifications. In addition, ensure they acquire and integrate industry knowledge related to general trends, emerging technologies, and competitors.


  • Minimum 3 years sales management experience with sales quota attainment requirements

  • Experience in management of sellers of complex data network solutions to medium, enterprise and global businesses, government organizations and indirect sales channels

  • Demonstrated success in managing consultative selling teams

  • Proven and verifiable track record in ensuring sales teams exceeds sales quotas.

  • Strong communication skills and presence in communicating with Executives.

  • High energy and drive.

  • Valid Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Consultative or solutions selling training (Miller Heiman, Sandler, etc.)

  • Demonstrated level of success in the development of complex and emerging technology solutions

  • Experience with Financial modeling

  • Demonstrated experience selling a combination of the following strongly preferred:

  • Managed network solutions and outsourcing

  • Local Area Networking (LAN) and Wide Area Networking (WAN) and Internet solutions

  • Software-defined networking (SDN) technology and services

  • Software Defined Networking (SDN) technology and services

  • Network functions virtualization (NFV) technology and services

  • Network migration and transformation to virtualization

  • Professional services

  • Capacity to lead a sales team with dynamic product offerings with different underlying technologies

  • Ability to understand, explain and execute hybrid networking strategies

  • Ability to articulate and evangelize the value of SD-WAN

  • Familiarity or experience any with the following vendor solutions:

  • Versa Networks

  • Viptela/Cisco SDWAN

  • SilverPeak

  • Talari

  • Velocloud/VMWare

  • Meraki, Aruba and/or Aerohive wireless networking

  • Fortinet

  • Juniper

  • SolarWinds or other management tools

  • Working knowledge of SaaS and Cloud Service Provider architectures as well as Unified Communications / Collaboration services
