Customer Service Technician: will install telephone plant facilities, switched digital television, and high-speed internet at customer premises according to specifications directed and established by CenturyLink procedures. To maintain, expand, replace and repair all copper and fiber optic plant facilities and subscriber apparatus required to provide service to customers. This position interacts directly with CenturyLink customers.

Full-Time Temporary: will be scheduled to work a minimum of thirty (30) hours per week. Eligible for Medical coverage after 90 days at premium contribution rates without company subsidy. Will be employed with the understanding that his or her employment will last for a limited period of time, not to exceed six (6) months.
Install, repair, test, and modify line and station telephone equipment for customers using hand tools, power tools, and computer interfaces. Includes repairs to outside wires and tree trimming, and placing new drops.
Inspect subscriber premises to determine the appropriate method of installation.
Test newly installed telephone/equipment using testing devices and repairs or replaces faulty equipment. Perform appropriate testing to ensure proper transmission and supervision specifications.
Work closely with the Dispatch Center for work assignments such as trouble reports and service orders.
Refurbish cable and install facilities within pedestals and/or terminals for both copper and fiber optic facilities.
Actively support sales and marketing related activities through the sales referral program.
Climb poles using either ladders or bucket trucks, attach terminal boxes and carrier housings, and repair or replace defective lines and auxiliary equipment.
Pull lines through conduit.
Observe all safety rules and regulations.
Correct prints and maintain as-builts in accordance with company practices and policies.
Install and maintain video, data, and station wiring and apparatus, maintain loop plant, including analog and digital subscriber carrier.
Assist other Technical personnel in the performance of their duties when requested.
Locate buried telephone cables.
Installation/troubleshooting of high-speed internet and data networks
Convey a positive and professional appearance and demeanor when communicating the company's products and services to our customers
Assume all other duties as assigned
Two years of current telecommunications industry experience in one or more of the following areas: installation, maintenance, and repair of aerial, buried and underground copper and/or fiber wire and cable; telephones; switched digital television; High Speed Internet; building wiring; station equipment; or equivalent in education and training.
Incumbent must be technically proficient in order to perform the specific work requirements of the job in the particular location.
Must have working knowledge of PC's, including basic computer operational tasks
Must have strong interpersonal communication skills for communicating CenturyLink's products and services to customers
Must possess a valid driver's license, be able to safely operate company vehicles and equipment, and maintain a safe driving record.
Must be able to safely use ladders, bucket trucks, and to safely climb poles with approved equipment
Heavy lifting as required (28 foot extension ladder (up to 75 pounds) and manhole covers (up to 150 pounds).
May work in confined spaces
Ability to work outside in all weather conditions and at various hours of the day/night
Accept after hour call-outs, work overtime, shift, weekends, and holidays as a condition of employment
Must be able to travel overnight as necessary for business requirements and training
Associate's Degree in Electronics/Communications.
Ability to maintain an excellent attendance record
CCNT, CCNA, Network+, or A+ Certifications
Training on basic IT and network fundamentals.
Experience in Outside Plant functions for both copper and fiber facilities.
Subscriber carrier training
Pole climbing training
Experience or training in how to read and interpret outside and subscriber plant facility records
Internet protocol telephony exposure
Electronics training or experience that demonstrates knowledge of AC/DC theory
Experience splicing fiber optics.
Knowledge of analog and digital transmission
Experience with installation and troubleshooting of high-speed internet services
Proven ability to assist the sales team with lead opportunities during day-to-day customer contact
